This motion graphic project was created for my User Experience Design course in the form of a mindfulness app for the Apple Watch. The app guides the user through a reflective meditation, inviting them to take a moment to breathe, slow their heart rate, observe the world around them, and eliminate any troubling or ruminating thoughts.

As someone who greatly benefits from meditative practices, I wanted to develop an app prototype that could aid others in the pursuit of mental clarity. I attempted to implement simple, relaxing motion graphics and easy-to-follow microinteractions that allowed the user to experience their meditation at their own pace.

The app was created and animated using a flow chart in Figma and implemented using the site’s Apple Watch plugin, allowing this prototype design to come to life and function on the actual device itself.

This motion graphic was created as a part of an advertisement for a conceptual product called SunSign. I collaborated with a graphic design major and a business major to create this educational product from concept to prototype, including promotional materials. Our client for this project was the Mar Vista Family Center in Los Angeles.

SunSign was created to encourage kids to learn about the natural world, using one of the properties of the natural world: the physics of light. The product also doubled as a shadow stencil, giving the kids a mode of creative expression through chalk drawing.

We created 6 unique paddles, each with a different stencil pattern, along with a lesson plan booklet for both instructors and students. Each unique stencil pattern depicted an image correlating to a different scientific concept for the kids to learn about, along with one bonus stencil of Mar Vista’s logo design.
